This arose from a need for recognition and community for Gender and Sexual Minority mathematicians, and we hope that this will be a resource for our community. Gay mathematicians inspire the younger generations of the LGBT community to speak out, fight for their rights, and chase their dreams. Here are the most famous ones. In this article, we dive into the concept of the “gayest numbers” and the significance they hold within the community. Numbers, like words, can carry hidden meanings and associations.

Within the LGBTQ+ community, numbers are often used as codes, cultural markers, or humorous references. Participants learn (1) how fostering positive 2SLGBTQIA+ identity can positively impact students' mathematics identity, and (2) one or two steps they can take today to begin attending to 2SLGBTQIA+ identity in their mathematics instruction.
